From Burnout to Glow: My Journey from the Beauty Industry to Social Media Management
Running a small business is exciting, rewarding, and creative — but if you’ve ever felt exhausted trying to juggle clients, admin, social media, and emails, you’re not alone. I know this because I’ve been there myself.
Before creating Glow Content, I spent over 15 years in the beauty industry, running my own fully booked beauty business. I loved my clients and the creative side of the work, but I also experienced the part many business owners don’t talk about — the late nights, the stress of “keeping up” on social media, and the overwhelming feeling that I was doing everything at once. Eventually, I reached burnout.
In 2023, I booked a one-way flight to Mexico, not quite knowing what was next. I ended up living in Tulum for five months, working in one of the most beautiful beauty salons and training the girls in the European ways of beauty. It was there that I found my love for the industry again. Tulum was also where I first heard the term digital nomad. I quickly realised there was a huge community of people from all over the world working from their laptops, building businesses, and living with more freedom. That idea lit a spark in me — that business could be done differently.
After Tulum, I continued travelling across Central and South America. That year gave me the space to reset, study intensively in marketing and social media, and reconnect with my creativity. I completed multiple intensive courses, worked behind the scenes with some incredible brands, and found myself inspired daily by the colours, textures, and people I met — as well as the freedom of working from anywhere. Travel became one of my greatest sources of creativity, and it continues to shape the way I see business and content today.
After my first year of travel, I then moved to Bali — one of the world’s biggest digital nomad hubs. I’ve now been here for a year, surrounded by entrepreneurs, creators, and some of the most forward-thinking people in the digital space. Bali has taught me so much about social media (it truly is a hub for innovation in the industry), and it has also deepened my knowledge of holistic wellness. That balance of creativity, strategy, and wellbeing has become a huge influence in how I approach both my business and the way I support my clients.
That’s how Glow Content was born: a way to combine my real-world business experience with creative digital strategy. Today, I help small businesses — especially in the beauty, aesthetics, wellness, and creative industries — stay visible, consistent, and connected online. My passion is seeing your vision come to life and helping you achieve your business goals without the stress that nearly cost me my own.
This blog, The Glow Edit, is where I’ll be sharing tips on social media management, content creation strategies, and creative marketing ideas, mixed with a little inspiration from my travels. Think of it as a resource for small business owners who want to grow online, stay consistent, and find new ways to shine.
So whether you’re just starting out, coming back after a break, or ready to take your business to the next level, you’re in the right place. From Burnout to Glow: My Journey from the Beauty Industry to Social Media Management
